Roxbury
Every city has a story.
For Roxbury, it’s the stories of kids who walk past Nubian Square bus station every day on their way to elementary school, then again to middle school, then again to high school. The chance of a Roxbury resident developing asthma is many times higher than the United States average.
We are partnered with Alternatives for Community & Environment (ACE), an environmental justice organization that has been involved in advocacy for the suburb of Roxbury for over 25 years, to help them in affecting community-wide change with irrefutable and accessible data. Together we’re working to identify sources of emissions as targets for improvement by public officials.

Sensor Installation Workshops
We’ve gotten the community involved by hosting workshops to teach members how to install air sensors so that installing sensors is a sustainable process for the Roxbury community. ACE is fighting an ongoing fight against indoor and outdoor air quality, and we do everything we can to assist them in their fight.
HEPA Purifiers
Over the course of summer 2022, Roxbury community centers like schools and elderly homes will receive a high efficiency particulate air purifier to pilot a statistical analysis of the difference HEPA purifiers make in air quality. To enact this, we will compare data from before installation against that after purifiers are active.
